Shoot and review photos
Shooting and saving photos need the Admin or Editor role. Everyone on the team can open and download photos.
Start a shoot
Section titled “Start a shoot”- Open Products and choose a product.
- Under Product image, pick the photo to shoot from. Flat-lay photos work best.
- Choose the scene:
- Under Scenes, pick one of your saved scenes; or
- under Create new scene, pick a Style, a Model and a Pose. Browse all models shows every model. The new combination is saved to your Studio when you shoot it.
- Choose Generate · 1 credit at the top of the page.
Each shoot uses one credit, which is one frame from your plan. A product has one shoot running at a time: while one runs, the page says Wait for the current shoot to finish. When the button is greyed out for another reason, the reason shows under Preview, for example Pick a product image first. When you have no credits left, a banner says so, with a link to the plans.
For scenes, your own models and your own scene photos, see Studio and scenes.
Follow it
Section titled “Follow it”A banner on the product’s page shows the shoot moving through Queued, Generating on-model photo and Checking quality. It usually takes about a minute. You can leave the page; the photo keeps generating, and you are notified when it is ready.
When it is done, the banner says Your on-model photo is ready. Choose Open to review it.
If a shoot fails, the banner says We couldn’t create this photo and why, and the credit is given back. Choose Try again to start over.
Also good to know:
- A product photo with a short side under 600 pixels can make a soft result.
- Your store may have a limit on shoots per day. The Credits card on Home shows how many you have used today, and the limit when there is one. Past it, the web app says you reached today’s limit; shoot again the next day.
Review a photo
Section titled “Review a photo”Open a photo from the product’s All shots list, from Last shots on Home, from a notification, or from Photos in the menu. The review shows the photo large, with the original photo and the scene above it. Zoom in to check the detail.
If the review says Our quality check flagged this result, look closely before you save it.
A Not marketplace-white badge means the background is not pure white. Marketplaces such as Amazon need a pure white background on the main image; the photo is still fine elsewhere.
Then choose one of:
- Save to product: keep the photo. It is added to the product’s photos in Shootika, marked Generated, and it no longer expires. Saving is what these docs call approving a frame.
- Download: save the file to your computer.
- Regenerate · 1 credit: shoot the same product photo in the same scene again. This is a new shoot and uses a credit.
A saved photo shows Remove from product instead. Removing it takes it off the product, and it starts to expire again.
Get photos into your store
Section titled “Get photos into your store”Saving a photo does not change your online store. To put it on your product page:
- Download it and upload it to your store yourself; or
- have your own software collect the saved photos with the REST API. The platform recipes show how for WooCommerce, Wix, BigCommerce and your own site.
How long photos are kept
Section titled “How long photos are kept”A photo you do not save to a product is deleted after a retention window. The review shows how many days are left, and Shoots history shows Expires in on each one. After that it shows Expired; choose Regenerate · 1 credit to shoot it again. A saved photo is kept while it stays saved. The rule is in the privacy policy, under How long we keep it.
Shoots history
Section titled “Shoots history”Photos in the menu opens Shoots history: every shoot across all your products, newest first. The tabs narrow it to Ready, Saved, Failed or In progress photos. Choose Open on a row to review it.
