Shoot your products

Products lists your Shopify catalog, with each product’s category and how many Shootika photos it has. Search by name, or narrow the list by Apparel (All, Apparel, Other), Collection, Category, Vendor and Status.

On-model photos are for clothing. Shootika reads each product’s category from Shopify to tell whether it is apparel. If a garment is not marked as apparel, its page says so: choose Mark as apparel there.

  1. Open the product from Products.
  2. Under Product image, pick the photo to shoot from. These are the product’s photos in Shopify. Flat-lay photos work best.
  3. Choose the scene:
    • under Scenes, pick one of your saved scenes; or
    • under Create new scene, pick a Style, a Model and a Pose. Browse all models shows every model. The new combination is saved to your Studio when you shoot it.
  4. Choose Generate · 1 credit.

Each shoot uses one credit, which is one frame from your plan. A product has one shoot running at a time. When the button is greyed out, the reason shows under Preview, for example Pick a product image first. When you have no credits left, a banner says so, with a link to the plans.

Photo tips:

  • Larger photos give sharper results. A photo whose short side is under 600 pixels can still be used, but the app warns that the result may look soft.
  • A photo Shootika made cannot be used as the photo to shoot from. If all of a product’s photos are Shootika’s, add an original photo to the product in Shopify.

A banner on the product’s page shows the shoot moving through Queued, Generating on-model photo and Checking quality. It usually takes about a minute. You can leave the page; the photo keeps generating, and you are notified when it is ready.

When the banner says Your on-model photo is ready, choose Open to review it. See Review and publish photos.

If a shoot fails, the banner says We couldn’t create this photo, and your credit is returned.

Your store may have a limit on shoots per day. The Credits card on Home shows how many you have used today, and the limit when there is one.

A scene is one style, one model and one pose. Studio keeps your saved scenes, ready to shoot with, and a library of styles, models and poses.

  • Create a scene: in Studio, choose Create a scene, pick a Style, a Model and a Pose, and choose Save. Saving a scene does not use a credit.
  • Edit or delete a scene: choose the scene to edit it, or open its menu and choose Delete. Photos already shot with it are kept.
  • Pin models: pinned models come first on every product, so your catalog reads as one shoot. Choose the pin on a model to pin or unpin it.

The Studio works the same way in the Shopify app as in the web app. To shoot on a model of your own, or in a setting from your own photo, see Studio and scenes.
