Connect an assistant

Connecting takes one approval in your browser. You need a Shootika account: the Shopify app or the web app at panel.shootika.com. If you have neither yet, you can create a web app account during these steps.

Give your assistant the server URL:

https://mcp.shootika.com

How you add it depends on the assistant. See Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor, Codex and other coding tools.

The first time the assistant uses Shootika, it opens a Shootika page in your browser that asks How do you use Shootika? Pick one.

Sign in with the account for the store you want to connect: your password, a sign-in link sent to your email, or the code from that email.

New to Shootika? Choose Create a free account on the same page. Once your email is confirmed you come back to the connect page.

Type your store’s address, for example acme-store.myshopify.com, and choose Continue. Shootika sends you to your Shopify admin, and you approve inside the Shootika app there.

Not using Shootika yet? Install it from the Shopify App Store, then connect again from your assistant.

The page names the assistant and your store: “Assistant wants to connect to your store”. It also shows:

  • where you will be sent after you approve;
  • Verified as a host, when Shootika has verified the assistant’s site, or the host the assistant says it is from;
  • a note that the assistant is a program running on your computer, when it is one. Approve only if you started it yourself.

Only approve if you just clicked Connect in your own AI assistant. A link someone else sent you is not a request you started.

Permission On the page Lets the assistant
Read See your products, models and frames See your account, products, models, styles, scenes and shoots
Catalog Add products and photos Add products and product photos (web app stores only)
Shoot Start shoots (each uses one frame from your plan) Request scenes and start shoots
Publish Publish frames to your products Approve frames onto your products, and take them back off

The page lists only the permissions the assistant asked for. Read is always included. The others start unticked unless the assistant is verified, so tick the ones you want. See What an assistant can do for the tools behind each one.

In the web app, a team member whose role cannot edit products (a viewer or a billing user) can grant Read only.

Web app admins, and everyone approving from the Shopify admin, also see Allow extra frames past my plan (billed on monthly Shopify plans). It starts off. Leave it off and the assistant cannot start shoots once your plan’s frames are used up.

The switch only has an effect on a monthly plan billed through Shopify. On a web app plan it does nothing: extra frames are not billed, and shoots stop when your credits run out (see Billing).

You can change it later for each connection; see Manage connections. What your plan includes is on shootika.com/pricing.

Before you approve, check that the store named in the heading is the one you meant. If it names another store, you are signed in to the web app with that store’s account: choose Deny, sign out of the web app, then start again from your assistant.

Choose Approve. You are sent back to your assistant. In the web app the page also says your assistant is connected and you can close the tab. In the Shopify admin, if your assistant did not open, use the Open your assistant link.

Choose Deny instead and nothing is connected.

A connection request lasts 10 minutes. If it runs out, start again from your assistant. See Troubleshooting for this and the other messages you may see.
